SOUTH SALT LAKE — A 29-year-old man has been arrested for sexually abusing a teen girl he met on social media, according to police.

Joseph Charles Snow, of South Salt Lake, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Tuesday for investigation of sodomy on a child, enticing a minor, aggravated sexual abuse of a child and supplying alcohol to a child.

South Salt Lake police were contacted on April 30 by the Salt Lake City Police Department regarding a possible sexual assault of a child that happened in their city. A 13-year-old girl told police she had gone to an apartment to meet Snow, according to a police booking affidavit.

The girl allegedly met Snow on Snapchat. The teen's father showed detectives messages on Snapchat "where Joseph was telling the victim what train to take to get to his apartment building. Joseph's conversations with (the teen) were sexual in nature," the affidavit states.

When the girl arrived at Snow's apartment, he provided her with alcohol and sexually abused her, according to the affidavit.

When questioned by police, Snow "stated to me he knew the victim was underage," officers wrote in the affidavit.
